New storage/display bulding
The latest excitement here is our new storage/display building, behind the Art Annex.
Not only will this building provide us with some much-needed additional storage space for our collection, but we also now have a great place to display our 1941 Seagraves fire engine courtesy of the Artesia Fire Department!
The building has three big windows, so feel free to come on over and have a look - future

plans include benches and/or steps up to the windows so that our younger visitors can get a good look too!  The Museum will be working with the Artesia Fire Department this coming year on restoration plans for the engine.

Improved accessiblity at the Museum and Art Center
We are currently working on improving our accessibility for our disabled visitors. We recognize that as a registered historic property, the museum house is a challenge for some of our visitors. We are in the process of developing a tactile tour for vision-impaired visitors; a written tour for hearing-impaired visitors; a “scrapbook tour” of the upstairs of the museum house; and the Media classes at ENMU-Artesia are preparing a video tour of the museum for visitors that find it easier to visit our Art Annex gallery next door to the main house, where we will set up a small viewing area.

Addresses needed
We are seeking current addresses and/or next-of-kin information on the following people that have old loans here at the Museum:  Beatrice Blocker (deceased), Esther (Mrs. George) Cook, Eva Russell Crook Evans, Dora Russell (deceased), Joseph “Mack” T. Lang Jr., Rebecca (Mrs. D.A. “Doc”) Loucks (deceased), Steven Martin, Dr. Sheldon & Katherine Price, Edna Lee (Mrs. John) Stewart (deceased).  Any help will be appreciated!
